The San Diego Padres announced that they have placed outfielder Jackson Merrill (head) on the seven-day concussion injured list. The team selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Trenton Brooks from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Merrill had to leave the Padres' game early on Saturday after he was shaken up on a stolen base attempt. Considering the unpredictable nature of concussions, it's unclear how much time Merrill will miss. It's the second IL placement of the season for the 22-year-old standout, who missed most of April and a few days in May with a hamstring strain. When healthy, Merrill has hit a terrific .304/.349/.474 with five home runs and 26 RBI in 186 plate appearances. He's a big loss for the Padres and fantasy managers alike.--Connor Byrne
